[MEMBER PROFILE.]

Minoru Satomura Saxophone

Around the age of 12, he began listening to jazz and fusion music under the influence of his brothers and started playing the alto saxophone.
After entering college, he took up jazz seriously and turned to tenor.
Self-taught in jazz.
He mainly plays in big bands.
He has won various awards in contests.
In 1998, he participated in the Monterey Jazz Fest on the West Coast of the U.S. with the Global Jazz Orchestra of Osaka.
When he joined the fusion unit BLACK CANDY, he toured Korea twice a year, expanding his activities overseas.
He has performed with such renowned artists as Kenny Washington, Lewis Nash, Clifton Anderson, Bobby Hsu, Bill Watras, Shuichi Murakami Ponta, Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, Rikiya Higashihara, Toru Tsugiki, Seiji Tada, and many others both inside and outside Japan.
In 2014, he released his first album "FALL" with his own quartet.
His second album "SPARTACUS" was released in 2018.
Currently active in various styles including the Minoru Satomura Quartet, Neighborhood Big Band, Jazz and Kodan with Kodanist Tamada Tamashusai, Symphony Hall Big Band, Hard Bop Study Group, GOLSON SPRITS, Quartet West, JK6, and PIVOT+.

 

 

◆Maiko Oishi Piano

She began playing classical piano at the age of three and graduated from the Osaka College of Music with a degree in instrumental piano.
He then studied Jazz at Koyo Music Academy.
He made his national debut in 2001 with the pop band Tenderfeet.
Released a maxi single and an album.
Since then, he has been active in a wide range of fields, including radio appearances, national tours, and appearances on the Fuji-affiliated program "Live Letters.
Currently, he is expanding the scope of his activities with his unique performance style that blends the essence of various music such as classical, pops, fusion, etc., with a focus on Jazz, and is active in live houses, restaurants, events, bridals, ships, etc., mainly in the Kansai area.
In November 2018, the piano trio, of which he is the leader, released its first album, PIVOT,
In December 2022, the second album "PIVOT+" was released.
In addition to composing, arranging, and being involved in various recordings, he also devotes himself to training younger students.

 

 

Rei Hatakeyama Bass

Bassist from Kobe, Japan.
He started playing electric bass at the age of 18, and later entered Koyo Music Academy, where he studied under Hatsumi Kamiyamazaki.
To master the possibilities of the bass instrument.
Impressed by the improvisational and expansive nature of jazz music, he switched to acoustic bass at age 20 and received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music.
While in school, he studied under R.Mahdi, J.Lockwood, and others.
He has also performed at numerous live music venues in the U.S. since he was a student there.
Studied with Rodney Whitaker from 2006 to 2009.
After graduation, he returned to Japan and has been active mainly with his own group, with the motto of "creating new and unique music while respecting the jazz tradition.
In 2017, his composition ""Two in One"" was selected as a finalist in the International Songwriting Contest In 2017, his song "Two in One" was selected as a finalist in the International Songwriting Contest.
In 2018, he released his first album ""Mosaic Structure"".
Second album "Crab Nebula" will be released in 2021.
He has performed not only in Japan but also in France, Germany, Romania, Taiwan, and other countries.

Performed at many jazz festivals including Tokushima Jazz Street and Takatsuki Jazz Street.
Performed with many well-known artists such as Eiji Kitamura, Chihiro Yamanaka, Fumio Itabashi, Sugadairo, Benny Green, Craig Handy, John Pizarreli, and many others.

 

 

◆Aiko Watanabe Drum/Percussion

Started playing drums at the age of 14 and entered Koyo Music Academy at the age of 18, where he studied with Fumio Emori, Asuka Tada, and Noriaki Umazume.
After graduation, studied under Mr. Boru Miyagawa.
From the age of 20, he has been working as a roadie while expanding his own performance activities.
A longtime Miki Gakki instructor, he is also an instructor at Fucci Music School and a teacher at a local music school, where he gives lessons, and is a drummer with a wide range of proficiency in various genres.
She is now a mother of two and also serves as the president of Aiko Friends, an organization she founded in 2018.
