The "cajón," a percussion instrument originating in Peru, South America.
True to its name—which means "box" in Spanish—it is a simple instrument played by sitting on a wooden box and tapping it with the hands.
Despite its simple appearance, it produces a wide range of tones—from deep bass to sharp, crisp sounds—depending on where it is struck and how it is played, and is now used in various musical genres around the world.

"Cajon RhythmScope" is a fresh new rhythm unit that features the cajón as its centerpiece, bringing together a diverse array of instruments, including the violin, guitar, and bass.
Centered around the diverse tones and rhythms produced by the cajón, we perform music that transcends genre boundaries, including pop, rock, jazz, fusion, and Latin.

An ensemble woven from rhythms that shift in character depending on the piece and the distinct timbres of each string instrument.
“True to its name, ”RhythmScope = a telescope for peering into rhythm,” this program takes you on a journey through the diverse worlds of rhythm via the cajón, showcasing its appeal, the dynamism of music, and the potential hidden within this instrument.
